Applications and experience

Crude unit distillation columns

Scope of Work:

Remove residual hydrocarbon & H2S prior to vessel entry for mechanical works & inspection.

ProDecon® Method

One hot decontamination (fully flooded) wash at target temperature followed by a cold water rinse/flush. Man entry required for final hose out of residual (mobile) solids.

Chemistry used:

LDP-88™ (ProDecon® Decontamination Chemistry).  Cacl2 to fracture the temporary emulsion on route to the ProDecon mobile wastewater treatment tanks.

Safety performance:

Excellent. No incidents, no lost time first aid, no reported near misses

Environmental performance:

Excellent. Following initial treatment with Cacl2 and processing through ProDecon’s Mobile Waste Water Treatment Unit, the effluent was analysed by client, found to be compliant and was released for metered discharge to the VBU sump with no adverse environmental impact

Customer verified results:

References may be available on request. The following comments are taken from client witnessed Completion Report.

Vessel pre-entry checks:

Zero H2S, Zero LEL, Zero CO and no hydrocarbons.

Vessel internals:

ProDecon 75m3 Mobile WWTU

It was noted that there was less residual chemical odour and no complaints regarding irritation, from those working inside the desalter. There were no issues with interference to sampling / monitoring equipment.

The cleanliness of the desalter on initial opening was as expected with some sludge remaining on the bottom of the vessel and on the diffuser plates suspended from the top of the vessel. This sludge was mobile and hydrocarbon free. After man entry into the vessel was obtained (under B.A.)The sludge in the bottom of the vessel was easily hosed away to a vac tanker.
